Individuals may recognize the signs of needing addiction treatment, but they may be unsure how to enter treatment. Asking for help is first and foremost, but this first step can be daunting. Taking action may include reaching out to a relative or trusted friend. Acknowledging you need help is a monumental step in itself.

It may be hard to know where to go, what resources to use, or which treatment facility to choose, but once you reach out for help from a professional alcohol or drug treatment facility, you can embark on your first stage of recovery. There may be many bumps along the road, but getting through this first obstacle of entering into treatment can empower you to continue ahead. The Ohana Addiction Treatment Center has a process for entering into treatment. To start your recovery journey, contact us today!

Recognizing You Need Treatment

The first step in entering treatment is recognizing the signs of addiction and admitting that you need help. Many people don’t initially recognize the signs of addiction within themselves, so acknowledging them within yourself is a big step. Struggling with substance use disorder (SUD) typically presents itself through different symptoms

Some of these symptoms include:

  • Changes in mood, personality, or periods of excessive anger and irritability

  • Unusual eating or sleep patterns

  • Poor performance at work

  • Sudden weight loss or weight gain

  • Loss of interest in once pleasurable activities

  • Encountering legal or financial conflicts as a result of substance use

If you are experiencing some of these symptoms, you may be struggling with SUD. Seeking treatment can be scary, but it’s just the first step in your recovery adventure. Living a life free of active addiction is possible; you just have to accept help.

Admissions and Treatment at The Ohana

The Ohana understands that seeking addiction treatment can be scary. For that reason, we focus on educating potential clients on our process, ranging from initial contact to treatment and then aftercare support. Getting the whole picture may help you determine if this is the right place for you and ensure that we can offer you the treatment you need.

The first step is initial outreach, which you can do by calling or emailing The Ohana. From there, a team member will respond within 24 hours. We conduct a phone screening where we ask questions to determine if our center is a good fit for you and answer any questions you may have during the process. You may already have some initial questions, which we can attempt to answer in our frequently asked questions. Our phone screening is a way to ensure that we can offer you the quality treatment you need.

Traveling to The Ohana

Our phone screening process will also be a great time to discuss insurance and payment options. Once we’ve had the chance to connect and determine if we can offer treatment to meet your needs, we can focus on getting you to our facility. We’ll assist out-of-state clients with travel preparations, such as booking flights, arranging transportation to The Ohana from the airport, and working to relieve any stress you may experience through the traveling process.

Upon arriving at The Ohana, you’ll go through an intake and screening, we’ll review the guidelines with you, and get you set up with anything you may need before embarking on your addiction recovery adventure. The first day of treatment is usually a day to settle in and prepare. From the second you step into our facility, your path to wellness begins. We are here to help with this journey as much as we can.

What Kind of Treatment Can You Expect From The Ohana?

Throughout the phone screening and intake processes, we begin to learn more about you and your struggle with SUD. Based on these initial conversations, we can start creating a treatment plan that is individual to your needs. You’ll begin to work with our clinical staff to create a treatment plan that includes both holistic and evidence-based treatment methods. You’ll go on island adventures, connect with your peers, and with our clinical support, start to holistically create a life of recovery. Your treatment may last anywhere from 30 to 120 days. The Ohana will identify your needs during this time, and offer support that you can continue to utilize even when your treatment is complete and after you begin transitioning back into everyday life.

The transition back into everyday life has its challenges. For this reason, we prioritize offering clients continued support even after they’ve left the island. We’ll work to create a discharge plan that helps you continue your recovery success in your community, includes resources to utilize back home, and continue contact with our clinical staff to follow up on your recovery. Checking in helps us to see where and how we can offer additional support if needed. If you or someone you love is struggling with addiction, consider treatment. Your path to recovery can start today.
