Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is the technical term for alcoholism or alcohol addiction. The 2019 National Survey on Drug Use and Health indicated that 14.1 million adults aged 18 and older had AUD. The same survey revealed that only 7.9% of adults with AUD were treated for the condition. This means for every 10 people currently diagnosed with AUD, less than one is receiving the professional treatment that could guide them to a healthy, fulfilling and sober life.
